Local band ‘Summer City’ are a 4 piece Rock/Pop band from Ripon. Having been together for over 3 years, Summer City have become an experienced young band ready for the big time and are one step closer to their dream thanks to Keyfund run through North Yorkshire County Council’s Youth Support Service.


Ben Raynard, 17 years old Drummer for Summer City said “Its great to have the support from Keyfund as without this we would not be able to develop our skills and gain professional help”.


The band have been working with Keyfund Facilitator Sylvia Mooney at Ripon Youth Centre developing key skills such as team work, money management and dealing with people in authority. The group brainstormed ideas and presented their idea to a panel and were awarded £500 to help pay for a session at a professional recording studio in Leeds working on their new material.Sylvia said “I am very proud of these young men who have taken the time to do something positive with their talents and look forward to them starting stage 3 of the Keyfund process.
